Make Poverty History rally

0,000 Take To Streets in Poverty March

On June 1st, Thad and I (and 19,988 other people) marched from Parnell Square to Merrion Square to demand debt relief and better aid for impoverished countries. It was an amazing experience, especially to see so many people make the effort to turn up. It’s good to see we’re not ALL apathetic capitalists.

Kilts and Tony Blairs

Start of the rally with big Banner and Men in kilts with Blair-masks.

Drummers

Not quite sure about the significance of the snake, but Woo! Giant Snake! Also some mad cool drummers.

Communist Party

Sinn Fein Placards and Communist Party Placards.

Ralliers with a Cathedral in the background and more chanting and waving.

The end point at Merrion Square.

Dublin is a very vibrant city. Everywhere you look there is something happening. There are fresh food markets everywhere, as well as markets for other goods. Shops spill out onto the pavement. Everyone seems politically active, with protesters, rallies and people handing out leaflets for various causes. Buskers are everywhere. We stumbled on a 4 piece jazz band playing on the street, as well as harp players, flute players, comedians and dancers.
